Women In The Workplace: Celebrate Everyone This 2024

Society is adept at comparison, and whether we accept it or not, this is especially effective in the workplace; there are a lot of instances wherein discrimination occurs in a professional setting. More than the job itself, women worry about others’ perceptions of them. It is not a foreign idea to have judgment among colleagues, but it’s not remotely normal for women in the workplace to take most of it.

Although rarely highlighted (which is the problem), unfairness constantly happens. The society holds women back because of surface-level notions. Their capabilities are not questioned, but their gender. This International Women’s Day 2024, let us laud women striving to fight for their spot in society.

Pick your mind and consider this, “what if we are all seen equally?”. Refer to the following for more:

What if…
We acknowledge more of their talent and capabilities

Women are indeed as able as everybody else. Take mothers as an example. At home, they can handle more than one task at a time. Imagine more if they are to take charge in the workplace.

They are multi-faceted enough to handle more than the expected roles in the workplace. In return, they deserve as much recognition as their peers.

They are not stereotyped

People cannot release their full potential if held back by circumstances beyond their control. This statement contributes to my previous point. If women do not have enough chances to prove themselves, how will everyone know if they can make a difference?

Women get to do much because it’s how society tagged them. They are “usually in charge of house chores, watch over children, or stay home.” But what if they can hold the fort by themselves, lead the pack, and be the head of the household? Some matters are simply trivial compared to what they regularly do.

Their presence is more recognized

Women contribute just as much as men. Some of the most influential forces in the world are women. Their presence is widely known, regardless of their industry. But there’s a catch; they receive criticism.

Women’s achievements are evident, but some do not fully acknowledge and downplay them, and it’s not because of the level of success, but who achieved them.

Why do we, as a society, always brush the topic of inclusivity?

Why does it matter?
Because it's appropriate

Come to think of it, we have come so far to recognizing equality in the workplace. In hindsight, we should already be inclusive in all aspects of work; we have yet to get there, so you need not deny the progress.

Women put in the work

It is not simply a matter of who steps up when but the people who acknowledge their achievements. Women in the workplace significantly contribute, too. To illustrate, many women run companies and can do more than that.

We grew up with the impression that women go on the sidelines and are the support characters in a man’s story. But the times have changed. No one is demanding a role switch, but to have a space for anyone to thrive regardless of who they are.

The measurement of capabilities should not amount to gender alone. This International Women’s Day 2024, let us celebrate women in the workplace.
