In the survey conducted by Statista in August 2023, there was a rise in the percentage of grocery delivery services in the Philippines catering fresh food & beverages, personal care, and/or household items. Demand increased to 2.03% this year from 1.64% in 2022 and 1.37% in 2021 due to the peak of COVID-19. This number of online grocery shoppers is expected to increase by 2027 to 3.84%. But how purchasing personal goods from the local markets drifted to online should be explored. And why it is more helpful, especially to Filipinos.
LESS HASSLE. FRESH FOOD.
The secret to a wonderful dish is fresh ingredients and quality cooking utensils. But as time got faster, some of our beloved mothers got tired of going to a local supermarket just to meticulously pick which veggie and what type of meat to use for everyday meals.
That is how food delivery services have become more useful as we can still pay closely for what to buy in just a few taps on our phone or computer. In the Philippines, grocery delivery services got more convenient due to the lockdown last year which is also influenced by government projects called mobile food carts, a kitchen mobile set-up where you can buy fresh fruits and vegetables, street foods, and other things that can be sold for daily use.
In due course and as online gives more convenience to a lot of people, grocery stores are also transferred to this platform to render a less hassle service while still adhering to quality products like in the market.
EASY ACCESS AND MORE OPTIONS
One of the unique Filipino cultures is called “Tawad”, a buying behavior in which the buyer asks for the buyer to lessen the price of a certain product which can be seen in the local markets. But who could “tawad” now, when a price hike is unpredictable?
Well, that’s why online grocery shopping is a better option as we can access a wider option of products or hard to search in the local market with a stable price.
USEFUL TO WORKING EMPLOYEES
There are about 8 hours and 5 days we spent in the workplace. While we spent at least 2-3 hours commuting or more. Which is why grocery shopping is forgotten or doesn’t cross our minds. So, we tend to order food outside but sometimes dining out is unhealthy, especially when it becomes a routine, due to its processed ingredients.
With that, ordering your groceries online is another option for employees which is far healthier for your body and mental health. To explore the bright side of grocery shopping, read the guide below:
