Having a trouble searching for some Korean snacks to share with your family during the holiday season? Don’t worry anymore as I will list down the top 3 Korean snacks that are worth to try for!

1. Bungeoppang (Korean Fish-shaped Bread)

TAIYAKI

Either a K-drama or Anime fan, you will fall in love with this cute and sweetest bread in town.

In Korea, Bungeoppang is commonly served during winter which is sold in different Korean street stalls. The best way to enjoy this pastry is by tasting its original flavor which is filled with red bean paste (also known as ‘anko’).

But, you can try the other flavors of it like, custard, peanut butter, strawberry jam, blueberry jam, sweet potato, etc. You can now enjoy these various flavors through the LAHAT FOOD app.

Moreover, if you’re an avid K-drama fan, you probably saw this fish-shaped waffle in a Korean crime drama, ‘Vincenzo’. When Vincenzo Cassano (Song Joong-Ki) and Hong Cha-yeong (Jeon Yeo-been) walked down the streets.

While in Japan, this fish-shaped bread is commonly known as ‘Taiyaki’.  But did you know during the Edo Period (1603-1867) the shape of this waffle was not fish but a circular shape? It was called ‘Imagawayaki’. In 1909, Seijiro Kobe, owner of the Japanese store Naniwaya Sohonten, reshaped his Imagawayaki from a circle to a fish shape (tai) due to bad sales.

Already tried Bokssam? Here’s another famous Korean snacks that is worth adding to your cart!

Gimbap or Kimbap, a Korean dish made from cooked rice, vegetables, and meat and then rolled with seaweed is the best snack that you can also try on your home. How this dish was made is still debated whether originated from Korea or Japan. But one thing is for sure, you can use Gimbap as your comfort food whenever the season is.

Today, you can have this dish with king crab, fried turbot, tonkatsu, ham, tuna, bulgogi, cheese, and many more. Check out the LAHAT FOOD App and enjoy Gimbap from various stores nationwide.

3. Tteokbokki

Tteokbokki

Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha, Extraordinary You, The Heirs, Reply 1988. These are some famous K-dramas that feature Tteokbokki.

Tteokbokki is made from rice cake which is called garae-tteok, which can be served in a spicy (with gochujang or chili paste) or sweet (with ganjang or soy sauce) way. But my personal favorite is the spiciest version of it. However, how this dish was created is actually by accident.

In 1953, Ma Bok-Lim participated in a Chinese restaurant opening. Jajangmyeon was served during that time. And then, she accidentally dropped rice cake or tteok into a jajangmyeon sauce. Surprised by the result, the founder tried to partner the rice cake with a chili sauce. Today, tteokbokki is considered as one of the spiciest Korean snacks.

It also now comes with a cheese flavor, kimali, sundae, and cream variations. Check out the LAHAT FOOD app to see other flavors of tteokbokki from famous local and Korean restaurants.
