Pepero Day, similar to the celebration of Valentine’s Day, is a holiday celebration of love and affection which originated in South Korea . The annual event is also considered as the biggest marketing event in the said country which is held on the 11th of November – because of the resemblance of 11 to the Pepero figure. During this day, Koreans exchange Pepero snacks to display feelings and affection to others.
It is also believed that Pepero Day can be traced back to the story of two female Korean students in the Yeongnam region who share Pepero with each other wishing to get tall and thin. Later, Lotte Corporation used this story as a form of advertising to sell their products to different schools in Korea since 1997.
